Yeyeong Jin South Korea, 14, Junior

At 9 years of age, violinist Yeyeong Jin was the youngest violinist ever to be admitted to the Curtis Institute of Music and has been studying with Ida Kavafian ever since. She started playing as a soloist with orchestras and performed her first solo recital at age 5. She won the Kumho-Asiana Cultural Foundation Award which resulted in the loan of a fine ½ size violin made in 1700. In 2015, aged 12, she performed in a masterclass with Leonidas Kavakos at the Curtis Institute of Music.

“The Menuhin Competition this year means another opportunity for a great new memory. To be more specific, it means an event that I will look back on fondly even as the years go by. I'm looking forward to visiting Switzerland for the first time and meeting many people who come from all over the world with different cultures. I am honoured to be a part of this important event and I'm excited to enjoy myself there.”
