Salle de la Bourse
Witness our Jury of internationally acclaimed musicians guide the next generation of outstanding violinists, each juror leading a two-hour open masterclass. In this masterclass the Chair of the jury, Pamela Frank, works alongside physical therapist Howard Nelson to focus on how performance can be affected by biomechanics.
Howard Nelson has been a physical therapist since 1989, and currently works in private practice in New York. He has worked at the Curtis Institute of Music, Caramoor Center for the Arts, Tokyo International Viola Competition and in Rolle and Verbier, helping musicians with movement analysis and injury prevention. His physical therapy focus is on improving the biomechanics of how people use their bodies, and evaluating how postures and movements can be the cause of injury and pain. He and Pamela Frank recently formed a company, Fit as a Fiddle, that focuses on treatment of musicians.
Your ticket grants you access to Joji Hattori (Théâtre Les Salons) and Josef Špaček (Room 20) masterclasses, which take place simultaneously. [Subject to availability of seats in each room]
