The EMCY Prize for Exceptional Performance, awarded by the European Union of Music Competitions for Youth (EMCY): Clara Shen
Prizewinners will be offered concert opportunities and courses including:
• The 2018 Morningside Music Bridge Young Artist Award (a scholarship to attend Morningside Music Bridge, an educational program of the Calgary Philharmonic Society in partnership with the Morningside Music Bridge Foundation) will be given to a competitor aged 18 years or younger.
• A Junior prizewinner will perform at the Gower Festival in July 2018.
• One Junior and one Senior prizewinner will be offered a full-scholarship to participate in Astona International, the renowned Summer Music Academy in Switzerland for talented string players and pianists aged 12 to 24, from 8-21 July 2018.
• Opportunity for prizewinners to perform at HIMA (Harpa International Music Academy) Festival in Reykjavik, Iceland; sponsored by Lin Yao Ji Music Foundation of China.
• Participation in the EUROPE: ensemble masterclass programme with Julia Fischer in Munich from 22-26 October 2018, via the European Union of Music Competitions for Youth (EMCY).
• A prizewinner will perform a concert at the Gstaad New Year Music Festival in December 2018/January 2019.
• A prizewinner will perform a concerto with The Doctors’ Orchestra at London’s Cadogan Hall in March 2019 in aid of the UK Charity Freedom from Torture.
• Four prizewinners will be offered participation in the Kronberg Violin Masterclasses in May/June 2019.
• A Senior prizewinner will perform a concerto with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in June 2019.
• A Junior prizewinner and a Senior prizewinner will perform at the Rockport Chamber Music Festival, Rockport MA, in Summer 2019.
• A Junior prizewinner and a Senior prizewinner will each perform a recital at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival 2019
• A prizewinner will perform a coffee concert at Wigmore Hall in the 2020/21 season.
• Opportunity for a competitor to participate in the Seiji Ozawa International Academy focussing on chamber music in Rolle in Summer 2019, including performing in the closing concert at either the Victoria Hall (Geneva) or the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées (Paris) / Fondation Louis Vuitton (Paris).
• A prizewinner will perform a concert at the Konzerthaus in Vienna with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra.
Other opportunities will be added to this list and special prizes may be awarded at the jury’s discretion.
